How to Invest Like a Pro-Level Speculator
By Paul Mampilly
The “Secret Portfolio” Summit is going to be much more than a tease of the 10 stocks inside my secret portfolio.
It’s going to be a masterclass on how to invest like a professional, Wall Street level speculator.
I need to address that word. Speculator.
It’s a dirty word to some. Some think it akin to gambling … playing the slots in Wall Street’s casino.
I don’t.
When you “invest,” you’re looking for sure things that have a high probability of playing out. It’s less risky. That means there’s also less potential reward.
When you “speculate,” you embrace the fact that a little more risk can mean an exponentially greater return.
For instance, when I bought Google at its IPO, it was a pure speculation. Any IPO is. There’s no stock history to draw a reference of what the stock is actually worth.
The way I looked at it, I would’ve paid any price for the company.
Today’s internet cannot exist without Google, and it was the same case in 2004 when the company went public. I understood this. A lot of market commentators didn’t.
Then-Microsoft CEO Matt Balmer said Google would trade flat for years. Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak told The New York Times: “I’m not buying.”
The stock doubled within its first year.
I tell you this because there is a right way to speculate (and there is a wrong way).
The wrong way is senselessly throwing your money at a hunch.
The right way is using your information, knowledge and wisdom to make a calculated bet.
It’s about going after the “big game.” Not the small fish.
This is what I want you to understand…
When you are forced to color in the lines, your gains will always be capped.
And that’s what I do with a lot of my research.
I want to keep my readers safe. That’s why I reserve the speculative bets for a select few … the bold and the daring … the big game hunters.
This is really the closest you’re ever going to get to investing the way I do…
I’ve made a lot of money in my life. But when I’m personally investing my money, I HATE playing it safe.
I want to really go for it.
Tomorrow, I’m going to tell you about the three things I like to see in one of these pro-level speculations.
All 10 stocks in the “secret portfolio” have these attributes. Once you understand them, you’ll be one step closer to thinking the way I do … it will transform your investment philosophy and help you separate a GREAT stock idea from a bad one (and even one that’s just “good”).
I’ll be updating the blog with new content every day leading up to the event.
If you haven’t, go to the homepage and mark your calendar for the big event on Tuesday, September 22, at 8 p.m. EDT.
Talk tomorrow…
